You'll be very welcome Meg - but keep in mind, the postcode is just a representation of your nearest sorting office.
People living on the Isle of Wight have a Southampton postcode!
...having said that many places in North Yorkshire have a BD (Bradford) postcode - which is even further away than Oldham is from Saddleworth, so you'll probably be a bit used to it already!

I will have an Oldham post code which comes under Lancashire !! How confusing is that to a newcomer??

Comment on Betty’s Fish & Chips in Uppermill by urbanhaze

I've been contacted by somebody from Betty's today who believes that some of the comments here may have been written by competitors.
As I've said before I publish comments both good and bad so like the fish and chips, you may choose to take them with a pinch of salt :)
But of course it's quite possible that some comments could be written by competitors - even some of the good ones!
You'll find even more reviews of Betty's on Trip Advisor here:
http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g528791-d2066860-Reviews-Betty_s-Oldham_Greater_Manchester_England.html

In fairness, I must say I've been back to Betty's several times since the earlier reviews and I'm afraid that I've noticed that the fish were not as large as the ones we had at first, although they were still very tasty!

And whilst I don't normally provide "free" advertisement services on this site, it is open to comments (subject to approval)
For whatever reason the staff from Betty's, although able to read this, were unable to add a comment themselves and have asked me to comment on their behalf:

<blockquote>That on March 23rd 2012, Betty's will have been open for 1 year and are celebrating their first birthday so I'm told they will be serving Fish and Chips for £2.50 all day.</blockquote>
- which does sound like very good value for money!

It should be noted that Urban Haze has no relationship to Betty's (or any other Fish & Chip shop!) and that there are other places in Uppermill, Saddleworth and the surrounding area to get Fish and Chips including:
Golden Dragon Chinese Takeaway in Uppermill
Diggle Chippy
Mary's Chippy in Delph
Frydays in Lees
Mossley Village Chippy

In fact, Urban Haze specialises in creating Web Sites that are easy to find in the major search engines - so if you're one of the thousands of people that have found and read this article, then that goes some way to demonstrate the success of our ability to do that!!
Please take a look at our Internet Services page to find out more:

Spent the last two days and all the dodges trying to get this set up on my SIM only contract. Conflicting advice from everyone you speak to at Vodafone. Sorry to say I have failed and will now be going to O2. I believe that it is a question of won't rather than can't as Vodafone want you to spend more money on a data SIM for an iPad etc.

Good luck to anyone else that tries - we really have to keep pushing these companies to get a fair deal for our money! Many thanks to Urban Haze for putting up this blog in the first place

On the Saddleworth/Yorkshire/Oldham/Greater Manchester issue.
What's happened here is similar to what happened to parts of Essex, Hertfordshire and Kent in the '60s. They got swallowed up in 'Greater London'.
Before 1974, Oldham was in Lancashire, and Saddleworth was in Yorkshire. For the last 37 years, BOTH PLACES ARE IN GREATER MANCHESTER. Simple. Greater Manchester is not just an administrative thing, it's a real county with real physical boundaries, and has been for nearly 40 years - look at any map.
I'm an Oldhamer, born and bred, and I respect my Lancashire history, but I don't live in the past. I consider myself, Oldham and Saddleworth in Greater Manchester now, and so are most people 50 or under.
